The QV House Price Index measures house price movement throughout New Zealand, providing an indicator of capital growth and how prices are trending in your area.

For the first time since July last year the QV House Price Index has shown a reduction in quarterly value growth from the previous month. The average value increased 8.8% nationally over the past three-month period to the end of May, with the national average value now sitting at $931,928.

Biggest and smallest regional value changes - May quarter 2021

Tararua has experienced the most value growth this quarter (23.3%), followed by Carterton (18.1%) and Waitomo (17.7%). At the opposite end of the spectrum, there was no recorded value growth in Westland this quarter.
